Cappadocia, Turkey
The experience
Explore the greener, more rugged side of Cappadocia on a journey through dramatic valleys, ancient settlements and extraordinary underground worlds. Begin at Göreme Panorama for sweeping views across the sculpted landscape before descending into Kaymakli Underground City, a remarkable subterranean settlement where generations of communities lived, worked and worshipped beneath the earth.
Continue to Selime Monastery, an impressive rock-cut complex carved into the cliffs and once an important centre of religious and social life. The experience then moves into the lush Ihlara Valley, where a scenic 3-kilometre hike follows the canyon through dense vegetation, towering rock walls and the peaceful riverside landscape.
End at Pigeon Valley, known for its distinctive pigeon houses carved into the soft rock and beautiful views towards Uçhisar Castle. Together, these landscapes reveal a different side of Cappadocia, combining its geological beauty with the remarkable ways people have adapted to and lived within the region for centuries.
